About the Author
Science, technology, art, and culture in intersection.
Past
Contrary to popular belief, the author did not exist before time began. Instead he is the progeny of, to name one, a published composer and all-around cool dude, whom you can read about at Paul Carey.net.
Present
The author is enjoying his free time after graduating with a BS in Computer Science. Recently, he has flasked seeds from one of his orchids using a homemade sterile "glove box" in the hope that they will turn into many baby orchids.
Work
The author programs in Java and Ruby on Rails for Navteq in downtown Chicago. Recently, he developed a piece of software cunningly (or cornily) named Lute for a company called Chicago Concert Artists.
Play
The author owns a guitar and a voice, several orchids, a paintball gun, a didjeridoo, a singing bowl, and a new Dell XPS 420.
Assorted
The author enjoys Tuvan throat singing, restaurants that are open late, islands in Wisconsin, and the sun. The author adores Thor Heyerdahl and may one day end up a hermited pacific island resident. The author took Latin in high school and is a bit disappointed he hasn't studied it since. The author laments his lack of domesticated animals, especially dogs and ferrets. The author will own you in CounterStrike while singing Galileo a cappella.
